One of the differences between an Boat Air Conditioner and an
Evaporative Cooler are the methods used to produce cool air. An
Evaporative Cooler has cool air that feels like an ocean breeze.
A Boat Air Conditioner has dry cool air like you feel in an aircraft
cabin. People in dry climates generally prefer the feel of an
Evaporative Cooler and those in humid areas generally choose a
Boat Air Conditioner.
A Portable Boat Air Conditioner or Evaporative Cooler are preferred
if installing an after market Boat Air Conditioner is not economically
feasible. Also if repairing a factory installed Auto Air Conditioner
is not possible, then consideration should be made towards an
Alternative. A Portable Cooler can be moved from a boat to a vehicle
and will provide relief while providing less strain on the engine
and, of course, money. The 12-Volt MightyKool Models are the hands
down the most popular cooler with boaters because of the low energy
they consume from your batteries.
1. How Large an Area will an Portable Device cool?
Seems like a logical question, however Portable Cooling
Systems are typically designed for Spot Cooling, not area cooling.
We do not know if the area to be cooled is well insulated or if
it is cool to begin with or if there is enough power and other
resources to maintain a full power-on situation. It does not matter
if you are using a Portable Cooling System in an auditorium or
a phone booth. Size does not make any difference because you will
place the Portable device where you need it! That is the advantage
of Portable Systems.

If using water only in the evaporative or dual cooling
models; one gallon (3.75 liters) will last around two to three
hours in the daytime and around five or six hours during night
time. Use any clean domestic or lake Water.
The "ice models" are capable of using up to 20 pounds
(9.0 kilograms) of ice per hour during the day and around 13 pounds
(5.9 kilograms) if ice during night time hours.
A fully charged deep-cycle 105 amp hour battery lasts from 8 to
17 hours on low and medium without charging when using the Swampy
or Icester models.
The MightyKool Model MW1 will last from 50 to 80 hours
and the MightyKool Models M200, M300, MG3 & MK3 will last
from 25 to 35 hours on a fully charged 105 amp hour Deep Cycle
Battery.
